FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
*WHEN ARE PRACTICES TIMES? - Some older (5th and 6th Grade) teams will practice at 5pm and 8pm. Younger teams (K-4th Grade) will practice at 6 pm and 7pm. There maybe an occasional Saturday Practice.
*WHAT DAYS ARE PRCTICE DAYS? Practices will be any days that are available for us to use the gym, The gym is busy with Varsity Games, Jr High Games and Church events. Typically teams will practive twice a week and then once a week when games start.
*WHEN DOES THE SEASON START? - We will start practices first week in November. Games will start December 2nd. Basketball season will end March 1st.
*WHEN AND WHERE ARE THE GAMES PLAYED? - We will play games on Saturdays. There will be times where we will have a weeknight game (usually a makeup game). The league does travel throughout the Tulsa area. For example: Games at Claremore, Bristow, Collinsville, Verdigris are expected. Usually play four Home Games and four Away Games.
*ARE THE UNIFORMS THE SAME AS LAST YEAR? - We have different uniforms this year but they are the same color concept so you can wear your last year's uniform. Cost: Jersey $65, Shorts $50. Can wear them for several years.
*IS THE "BASKETBALL CLINIC" REQUIRED? - No, it is not required but highly recommended for a fresh start to the fundamentals of basketball before practices start.
REGISTRATION 2023-24 ELEMENTARY BASKETBALL

Parents, we have joined a new league this year for Elementary Basketball. The Indian Nations Basketball Conference has approved VCS to play in their league. This is a BIG move for our School and we are very Excited. This will be a better way to build up our Basketball Program. We are believeing for a great year of Basketball. There are several changes and adjustments listed on website.
1. Uniforms: We will have to be adjusted this year to be legal basketball numbers. 00-5, 10-15, 20-25, 30-35, 40-45, 50-55.
(Cannot have the same number on a team)
2. No more than 10 players on a team.
3. Coaches must be NAYS certified and Victory Approved.
4. PLAYING TIME:
Kindergarteners, 1st and 2nd Grades: These grades will play 4 minutes each Quarter (8 minute Quarters).
3rd and 4th Grades: These grades will play "One Full" uninterrupted quarter in each half.
5th -12th Grades: These grades will play "One Full uniterrupted quarter in 1st half and must participate in the 2nd half.
5. Defense Rules have changed and a Mercy Rule is in affect.
6. There are two types of Leagues in the INBC 1. Recreational Teams and 2. Select Teams. Select teams are put together by Parents and play Competetive Basketball. All VCS teams will play recreational (Unless, a Parent wants to put together a Select team).
7. Age requirements per grade level.
To parcipate in the 6th grade- must be in the 6th grade and cannot be 13 years old prior to September 1st.
To parcipate in the 5th grade- must be in the 5th grade and cannot be 12 years old prior to September 1st.
To parcipate in the 4th grade- must be in the 4th grade and cannot be 11 years old prior to September 1st.
To parcipate in the 3rd grade- must be in the 3rd grade and cannot be 10 years old prior to September 1st.
To parcipate in the 2nd grade- must be in the 2nd grade and cannot be 9 years old prior to September 1st.
To parcipate in the 1st grade- must be in the 1st grade and cannot be 8 years old prior to September 1st.
To parcipate as a Kindergartner- must be in the Kindergartner and cannot be 8 years old prior to September 1st. No 4 year olds.
8. Size of Basketballs and Goal Hieghts:
K, 1st, 2nd and 3rd- 27.5 Balls, 8'5"
4th - 6th grade- 28.5 Balls, 10'
6th grade boys will play with a 29.5 Ball, 10'
9. Free Throw Distances:
K, 1st and 2nd- 10 feet from plane of the backboard.
3rd and 4th- 12 feet from the plane of the backboard.
5th - 12th- 15 feet from the plane of the backboard.
